Mercedes and Archbishop Moeller Join Forces For The Kids

It’s always a good feeling when you have the opportunity to help out a group of exceptional people. Having that support be mutually beneficial is just as great! That’s why we’re so happy to showcase our new long-term relationship with Archbishop Moeller High School!

Archbishop Moeller High School has been forming students into remarkable men for over 60 years. Opening its doors in 1960, Moeller High School has been the alma mater for more than 12,000 young men in the greater Cincinnati and Hamilton County area. Using their faith as the foundation, Moeller has been able to successfully create a culture rooted in academic excellence, service to others, family spirit, and the ability to continuously adapt for life.

Mercedes Benz of Cincinnati Mercedes Benz of West Chester

This sponsorship does more than support something like a sports team or a singular department. Our sponsorship of Archbishop Moeller High School will be used to support the school as a whole through tuition assistance. Many students who attend private schools are only able to do so thanks to financial aid from donors and sponsors. With our three-year-long sponsorship, more students will have the opportunity to be a part of the Moeller family.

At Mercedes-Benz of Cincinnati, we are always looking for new ways to better our community and our new relationship with Archbishop Moeller is exactly the opportunity we love to take hold of. If you want to learn about how you can support Moeller High School, visit their website at www.moeller.org. To learn more about our other community sponsorships, look at our blog!

Street Parking 101: Explore Cincinnati Stress Free

Ohio is known for a lot, and Cincinnati is definitely one of them! Experiencing this great city can be an absolute blast, but not without its caveats. Parking, like in most big cities, can be a bit of an annoyance.

As a Cincinnati resident, you know that parking downtown can be hard to come by, especially on weekends. With street parking as one of only a few options available to you, it's simply an unavoidable part of your life behind the wheel. So, if you have to park on the street, you may as well stay safe. Below are some basic things every Mercedes-Benz of Cincinnati driver can do to ensure the safety of their vehicle when parking on the street.

Street Parking in Cincinnati OH

Understanding Street Parking in Cincinnati

Having to parallel park on a busy street can certainly be nerve-wracking. In fact,  parallel parking is something that many drivers struggle with, but it’s still an important skill to master. So, how comfortable are you with parallel parking? More importantly, can you parallel park? Because if the answer to either of these questions is no, you may want to just pony up the twenty-or-so bucks required to gain access to an oversaturated parking garage. However, if you have the mettle to take on the tall task of parallel parking on a busy city street, keep reading.

Need to Know

  • Pay attention to the street signs: A common joke among big-city drivers is street signs are something that should be simple to interpret but, oftentimes, they’re not. With differing messages, time restraints, and symbols all coexisting on the same small rectangular sign, parking legally on the street can require some focus and mental fortitude. Take your time, read the signs and ensure that you won't be returning to a freshly booted vehicle.
  • Park under street lights, not tree branches: If possible, it's always a good idea to park your car in a well-lit area. In general, the more visible your car is, the safer it will be. On the other hand, parking under trees should be avoided whenever possible. Trees shed debris with rain and wind and, on occasion, come down completely in severe weather. Not to mention bird poop is rather annoying, especially with a convertible.
  • Fold in side mirrors: One of the easiest ways to protect your car when parking on the street is by simply folding in your driver-side side mirror. This prevents an irresponsible driver from passing too close to your parked car, clipping off your mirror, and continuing on with their day, leaving you with the bill for repairs.
  • Take or hide your things and lock up: On average, over 80,000 unlocked cars are stolen yearly. That's right, unlocked cars. So, while this may seem like an obvious tip, it is an important one. Lock your car, take your keys with you and be sure that no valuables are visible to people passing by and peeking in. Make sure potential thieves are not interested in your car or anything inside it.
  • Hey Siri, drop a pin: People are forgetful. We forget our keys, our phones, our wallets. Heck, sometimes we forget whether or not our kids are in the backseat. We also, on occasion, forget where we park. Prevent this issue by dropping a pin on your maps app before you leave your ride behind. Then, when you're ready to return, simply pull up the pin and find your ride in no time.

Investments To Remember

  • Car wash: Getting your car washed about every two weeks is a great way to make sure your car looks presentable. Beyond that, it shows would-be thieves that you pay attention to your vehicle. Oftentimes, car thieves target vehicles that look neglected. The idea here is that they will have more time after the theft to do with the car what they want before the owner even notices it's gone. So, protect your car's exterior appearance and show people you care about your ride with frequent washes.
  • Snow cover: A snow cover or car blanket protects your car from all elements. Whether that's snow, hail, tree debris, or bird droppings, a cover is a great way to protect your ride and prevent passersby from seeing what's inside.
  • Sunshade: Over time, constant exposure to the sunlight will cause fading and cracks on your dash and other areas of your interior. A sunshade is a great way to protect your car's interior and prevent potential thieves from seeing something worth stealing in your car.
  • Catalytic converter shield: This may sound like an unnecessary precaution, but when you consider the fact that an experienced thief can steal a catalytic converter in about two minutes, that $350 shield is looking a lot better than a $2,000+ converter.

Explore Cincinnati Without Stress

With more and more people moving to major metropolitan areas each year, parking in areas like Dayton is getting harder and harder to find, while inventory for car thieves has never been higher. However, if you follow these steps, you can rest easy knowing that you've done all you can to protect your car while it's parked on the street.

Support The Fine Arts With the Mariemont School Foundation and the 2022 FAB Affair

Our children are our future. This is why education, especially now, is more important than ever! Unfortunately, with dissipating state funding for public schools across Ohio, schools and teachers are often underfunded and under-supported, which is where support organizations like the Mariemont School Foundation (MSF) comes in! MSF is a 501c(3) organization established more than a decade ago by a volunteer group of parents to preserve and enhance educational excellence by providing financial support for academic programs and initiatives not covered in the operating budget. MSF is run by a board of nearly 20 trustees whose children are students in the district. Through the generous contributions of members of the Mariemont community, including parents, past parents, staff, alumni, and local businesses, MSF is able to help support the District’s nationally-recognized Warriors Beyond program that provides students in grades K-12 with experiential learning opportunities, the College and Career Planning Center at the High School, the K-8 Spanish Program, collaboration space, technology upgrades, college scholarships averaging $25,000 annually, and so much more! Since 2012, the MSF has distributed over $1,000,000 to the district for programs and projects. They’ve also invested $154,000 in the district in 2018 which has impacted students in grades K-12.

Mariemont School Foundation FAB Affair

Recently, we had the pleasure of sponsoring the district’s annual FAB Affair, a joint fundraiser organized by MSF and the district’s other support organizations: the Mariemont Arts Association and the Athletics Boosters. Respectively, these organizations engage the resources of district parents, staff, and community members to support academic, artistic, and athletics programs at each of the four district schools. Each year, the FAB Affair helps to raise funds for the three organizations. Given the proximity of this year’s event to Valentine’s Day, the theme was “For the Love of the Schools”. The event was completely sold-out with 250 guests attending. Guests had the opportunity to bid on live and silent auction items, and purchase raffle tickets for a chance to win one or more of 19 baskets created by members of the school community. Their fund goal was blown out of the water with over $60,000 raised, which will be split equally among the Foundation, Arts Association, and Boosters to impact students across the district. In particular, these funds will be used to provide continued support for experiential learning opportunities for students across all grades, to help fund the new orchestra pit at the high school, as well as to help fund the new turf field at Kusel Stadium, and award scholarships to graduating senior athletes.

At Mercedes-Benz of Cincinnati, we take the education of our future generations very seriously. We are thankful for all the incredible work that the Mariemont School Foundation, the Mariemont Arts Association, and the Boosters have and continue to do for the Mariemont School District. If you are interested in learning more or donating to their cause, you can find more information here!

Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy Celebrates the Fine Arts

The fine arts are an extremely beneficial part of a child's education, one that more often than not gets overlooked. The fine arts give kids a creative outlet that has a myriad of real world benefits as well! At Mercedes-Benz of Cincinnati, we believe that exposing students to art education is very important, which is why we are proud to be sponsors of the 24th annual ArtBeat by the Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy. Every year, the Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy holds their day-long festival of arts, ArtBeat, which celebrates the creativity of students across their entire campus. More than 2,300 people attend to enjoy performances by students from all 4 campuses. The performances include 1,000 pieces of student artwork on display, the High School art competition, and a hands-on arts and crafts activity.

Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy 2022 ArtBeat Art Festival

All sponsor funds support the fine arts department of Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy and help them ensure that their students receive the best quality education possible. This includes supporting programming, equipment, instruments, supplies, and professional development for the faculty and staff. The fine arts department offers opportunities for all students PK2-12, and 84% of students end up participating in at least one facet of the program.

We are very proud to be sponsors of this year's ArtBeat and support the furthering of fine arts education in K-12 schools. If you would like to learn more about the Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy and mark your calendar for next year’s ArtBeat, you can find them here!

The HRC Greater Cincinnati Our Dinner

Human Rights Campaign of Greater Cincinnati Our Dinner

Everyone should have the right to be who they are without prejudice. That’s something we hold very dear at Mercedes-Benz of Cincinnati, and why we were proud to sponsor the Human Rights Campaign Greater Cincinnati “Our Dinner” on March 19th. This dinner and fundraiser saw people from all over the greater Cincinnati area coming together to show their support for LGBTQ+ equality. Attendees were able to enjoy a delicious dinner, participate in a silent auction, and hear from speakers including our Mayor, Honorable Aftab Pureval, Nik Harris, HRC Directors of Strategic Outreach and Engagement, Dana Goldberg, and Shea Diamond. We also celebrated Michael Cotrell for receiving the David C Crowley Leadership Award and danced the night away with DJ Bobby G.

The dinner saw over 600 people in attendance, beating out our goal of 500 and that’s not all! The HRC also met their goals for the auction and corporate sponsorship fundraising, which will go towards the support of electing fair-minded politicians, lobbying for LGBTQ+ legislation, and fighting anti-LGBTQ+ legislation in the states. The LGBTQ+ communities need support now more than ever, and here at Mercedes-Benz of Cincinnati, we’re proud to be a part of the change!

The HRC has spent over 40 years fighting for equality for all LGBTQ+ people, as well as supporting the Trans community, people of color, and those who are HIV+. Their goal is to bring more awareness and education to people and get to a point where the LGBTQ+ community is fully accepted and treated fairly in society and politics. To learn more about their mission and outreach, you can visit their website here!

Supporting Our Jewish Community With The American Israelite

The American Israelite Jewish Newspaper

It’s important to be proud of and stay connected to your heritage. Cincinnati happens to be the second largest Jewish city in Ohio, so we are incredibly proud to be sponsors of the largest Jewish newspaper in the city! The American Israelite was founded all the way back in 1854 and happens to be the second Jewish newspaper founded in the entire United States. They are now the oldest operating English-Jewish weekly in America and the second oldest in the world to the Jewish Times of London, outlasting three other Jewish newspapers that were founded around the same time. Throughout history, the American Israelite has done its best to bring local, national, and international news to the Jewish community in Cincinnati.

Today, the newspaper continues on its more than a century and a half tradition of connecting the Jewish community together through relatable news. They cover Today in Israeli History, This Year in Jerusalem, book reviews, sports, legal news, advice, and so much more. They also have a podcast called “Let There Be Light” which gives an overview and personal insight into the weekly articles from the newspaper. This podcast can be found on just about every music streaming service including Spotify, Stitcher, Apple Podcasts, and more!

Supporting our Jewish communities throughout Cincinnati and helping to preserve their culture is incredibly important to us. If you’d like to learn more about The American Israelite, you can subscribe to their weekly newspaper and learn about their long history here
